About Team
In the year 1959, Rugby was introduced to the Vidyartha by some of the Old Trinitians like S.G. Mediwake, K.A. Perera and T. Muttiah who were then staff at at the school, under the guidance of then Principal A. Athauda. Also known as the ‘The Tigers’, Vidyartha College was supported by Kandy Sports Club, allowing them to use their grounds at Nittawela, and also Kandy’s experienced coaches providing valuable advice. The Tigers have not only produced top teams and but also some of the finest players to the National Team.
